MEDICON 2012: A First Hand Insight!

Delighted but dismayed. Happy but sad. A state of varied feelings it is. MEDICON 2012 is making us feel this all and I guess everyone associated with it agrees with me.

5th International Students Research Conference, Medicon 2012 has been a part of us for months together now. It was seeded in Jan. Slowly grew to have just a few branches. And in the last of the phases, it bloomed to be BIG giant tree. With a fistful of people at 1st place, boggling our minds, we just tried to figure out things. Understanding what is to be done was a pain onto itself. 100s of emails, meetings, calls, etc, etc. so much so was there to take care of. Every time a new person joined, explaining the crux made us ponder over it so much that we could even talk about it even through sleep. Meeting and corresponding with one of the best people in the field was the best part of it all.

Last month before the Showtime, we spent sleepless nights; working in our own small room we named the “Conference Secretariat”. Last minute data changes, sending out emails, manual entries of over 350 delegates, making lists of various specifications, getting materials, organizing the things, give & take of ‘gyaan’ and many many more; it all happened in that place with all the dedicated people in.
An odd number of 70 students, from 9th July to 14th July, committed all their time to the conference for making it what it turned out to be. Complimented by so many for the wonderful organization, gave the contended feeling that “YES! It is done and with a BANG!”

It would not have been the same if it was not for the super team behind it. Sridhar, who was plying emails; Akash, almost rattofying the CVs of the delegates; Abhinav, fiddling with money; Aditi, being the voice of the team; Ashwini sir, designing the first impression of the conference and by far the best; Saumya, guest’s favorite host ever; Vedant, hospitable to all; Kamlesh, toying the vehicles; Avinash, burning midnight lamp to receive delegs;  Ramesh, placing the delegs in place; Shatrughna, Anu, Sakshi, Pratibha, Niriti, caring for them in this new atmosphere; Prashant, serving them; Shraddha, maintaining the roster; Mukund, the techno of the clan; Swati, Ankita, Rashmi, giving a look to the place; Shruti, entertaining the guests; a whole bunch of Volunteers, who just treated this event as nothing less than their own; and finally the LEADER of the lot, the super awesome  Organizing Secretary Amrita who led the pack with all her skills and yes! Patience. With SP sir  at her discourse, it was the most superlative guidance we could get.

Medicon 2012 was an experience. It helped us all grow. Learnt a lot through it. Got new friends, built stronger bonds with the old. Never will forget such was this experience. Had attended 2009 conference and always thought if we could do any of this. But after 14th of this month, m sure we did and with a huge zeal and enthusiasm.

Hail MEDICON!

  1. I have no words to express the awesome and happy time I had :) By the time I left I met most of you guys in person and could well remember all by name. While I was there I could how much you guys been through, but what Amrita said was right it takes one to organize a Medicon to know what it really is . I must say guys .....it was a huge success and you should be more than proud of yourself . Life is short and it is places and people like you guys which make it a memory to relive .Did feel sad while leaving......
