An Epidemic!!!


All those reading this might have guessed it to be something related to medicine stuff…well…NAH!!

This is about an epidemic rather a pandemic (my medico friends know this jargons quite well) which swept off the whole World!!! The Football World Cup…started somewhere in the month of June…this fever escalated in every country of the World…a month long extravaganza had many effects during and after it…

True admirers of football took all pains just to enjoy those 90 mins…my pals faced “n” numbers of problems…firstly the worth-watch matches were at night 12…the next, we had our term papers in midst of the tournament…3rd, lectures to be attended…4th, overlapping of many other big events with it…and last, unavailability of TV or ESPN…but…nothing could stop the dutiful fans…even on the exam day, Brazil match din’t go unattended…n for me…though having no ESPN on the Mess TV, used internet just to keep track with the scores and see the important highlights of the match…

Many consequences seen with this bug…frequent mood swings with the match results…arguments within friends for the winning team...there is grouping as per the favorite team and the opposite gangs act as bigtime rivals…all forecast tellers busy in predictions…the latest being Paul, the Octopus…now he’ll be used to make all important prophecies I bet…and then our news channels making money out of even the smallest movement in the World Cup camps, whether related to the play or the players…

FIFA was a fever…a high degree febrile illness…impacting many with the passion…a passion for togetherness and sending out a message of “We, the World, are a single Family”…

Considering an illness shows some after effects…this had its own…missing FIFA is a status update on many Facebook IDs…and we are actually missing it…that zeal…that fire…which actually kept all on nerves whether the person loved it or not…

But it’s just a matter of few months is what I predict (anyone can try the Octopus thing, wink!)…coz there will be a new fever coming up…which will again bind the humanity together…and that will be…The ICC fever…

Hoping to see yet another Pandemic next year!!!

    The year is bound to be Pandemic, with animals replacing crazily dressed loud spoken Psychs on TV channels... I hope Prophet Paul does'nt Retire (or get killed and eaten by a German).. None the less, things will come and go (Politics, invasions, terrorist attacks, etc, etc) but Sports is one thing which has always brought people together.. and kudos to Goral, amazingly written.... I loved to read it, I will be Eagerly waiting for more such

    & speaking abt fifa pandemic,it ws full of craziness & twist,but one thing is very clear,its not that much hard 2b a paul octopus ;)
    aftr europian pandemic,nw its asia's turn so,get ready for that & i cn predict wc2011 champions right nw...

    I never watch a lot of football,but I loved the atmosphere with all the "ill" people! The good thing about these pandemics is.. we don't have to worry about vaccines!!! :D :D

    That was a terrific post! I m not much of a sportsperson but was amused to see first the IPL fever and then the FIFA-mania that gripped everyone around me! Enjoyed the predictions of Paul!

Oh the pain of this distance! It keeps you apart but strengthens your soul! Not many can understand this trouble and I hope not many are going through it. Distances make you grow fond, but at the cost of that one thing, distance. Well the story goes; I fell in love with this amazing amazing man who incidentally stays miles away. Love! A feeling indescribable! Have been a big movie buff and romances being favorite. Have grown up to them, the Bollywood songs, beautiful locations and superlative dialogues which make you fall in love. No doubt Shahrukh is my favorite.
