VeLLoRe VoYaGe!! (The Start)

Evening 8.10 p.m….a boy playing badminton…carefree about the future…as the train he was suppose to board on was late night…but then…came a call…screen beeping “Amrita”… saying…”Oye Goral nahi aa rahi”…call 2…”Swati” on waiting…on picking up says…”Uncle bhi nahi maan rahe”…and the final call…”Azhar tu Nagpur aa jaa”…

Now this boy was as you all might have got is Azhar…the only guy who showed up some courage to accompany us i.e. myself (Goral), Swati and Amrita for the Vellore Voyage…

Actually our train was scheduled to departure at 12.30 p.m. on 9th January 2010…but following IST…it was almost 15 hours late…and since I was suppose to board from my hometown i.e. Nagpur…my dad decided on not letting me go alone in the train so late night…plus tickets were with me…and so for all the journey started at 4 a.m. on 10th…but one…for Azhar it was 8.45 p.m. when he caught the bus for Nagpur…just to accompany me…

And the true trip for the Symposium commenced on 10th…when all of us were on the train…early morning…since all others had slept quite well last day…I needed the sleep…and hence I slept as soon as everyone settled….till afternoon…when we got up just to have food…big foodies that we are…and then was the problem…ab kya kare??? We had not anticipated this…and so were not at all prepared to spend the day in the train…since we were just 4…we settled on playing a game we used to play in childhood…”Chor-Police”…making those chits and just picking them up…gave all of us the titles…to name them…I was the official “King”…Amrita the “Police”…Swati the “Dacoit a.k.a. Daku”…and finally…Azhar the “thief/chor”…but how long could this go…and again we went into the boring spree…as eve creeped…imaginations of the our brilliant minds (except me)…came up with the story for every nickname we had…and now officially for the tour we were “Amu-mata”, “Ajgad”, “Sota” and “Godya”…

Finally at around 10 p.m. we reached Chennai…the station seemed like it was just dusk…with so many people around…we were unable to find a place to stand and also Venky…well…he was Ajgad’s friend who was going to meet us there…somehow we got him…and then…phase ii of the journey…reach Vellore proper…we had to take another train for that…and we needed a late certificate for that…pushing aside the mob there…we reached to the station master for that…looking at him…we thought that…naah…he won’t give it…but he did…

So we boarded the next train…since we were not reserved in that train…we had to be in the General Compartment…but we had enormous luggage…so we sat in the sleeper coach…and….then again a new adventure…a policeman with the TC came up to us and threw us out of the compartment…and so…we had to travel two hours near the loo…thankfully the place was clean and not stinky…so we could stand there…

But that was not all…when we stood through the passage…some guys who were like us i.e. without proper tickets were brought is the same passage…and they were scolded I guess (language there was something which was not known to either of us)…the fun part was where they tried telling something to Ajgad and he had to nod in agreement though understanding nothing of it…and the best of it…Amu in midst of all of them…giving expressions worth treasuring…so confused…and more confused…

We reached Katpadi Junction…our destination…at around 2 a.m. on the day of conference…just hoping of no more adventures…had enough for the day…planned was to reach a day before…but plans pre-planned never work (my favorite line)…and so there we took a single auto…with 4 of us and almost twice the luggage and reached to our guest house…got into the rooms and…collapsed…hoping to get up early the next day…
