Being a Little Childish! :)

“Aaj hum ghar ghar khelenge”
“5 baje garden chalna hai, jhula jhulne k liye”
Good old days… we all used these kinds of simple sentences in the daily life… As kids, this was life… A ‘no’ to these was a big big setback for the day… Food seemed tasteless if the neighboring friend was on holiday somewhere… it tastes bad even today… only the context has changed… Childhood was the most amazing phase of life and there can be no allegations for that…
Few days back was chit-chatting with a special friend who had been baby-sitting his niece and was telling his ordeal with the kids around… these 5 year olds have a world of their own… for them we can be either most amusing or most disturbing all at the same time… When no one’s around we are a World to them… and the very next moment when his/her friend arrives we are no one to them for the other kid becomes replacement… they are smart enough to use their brains and use us for their amusement… especially when it isn’t your kid, he/she makes a perfect exploitation with their innocence and we flow with their thoughts and actions… KIDS are the rulers undoubtedly…
Just when playing with them… I remembered my sweet childhood… my doll was my soul… everything I did involved her… my old tricycle…was the most enjoyable summer past time… Duck-tales, Mickey, Donald, Talespin, etc. was the only reason I turned the TV on… music was Surabhi n Chitrahaar… other than that, it was non-existent… Going to the School was fun… Sundays were family outings… Fights were all because of pencil, eraser, water-bottle and tiffins… Scolding was when the poems were not memorized and words were mis-spelled… late night meant 10 p.m… parties meant Mom, Dad and their friends… emotions meant sadness and happiness… It was so different then… so simple n so easy… didn’t have to think… didn’t have to worry… all that was to be done was to live…
Today when we are grown up… and responsible… I miss those days… life has turned complex… All the toys have turned technical… right from Cell-phones to I-pads… TV is 100 serials and with all drama and idiocy… Family time is reduced… friends have gained importance… Fights are on trivial issues and sorting them a big head-ache… We get scolded for all such reasons that kids can never and should never be aware of… Late nights are early mornings… Parties are when our group of friends is on… and EMOTIONS… well they have grown up in multitudes…and yes numbers too… Worry is the next thing we do after surviving…
Should I say life’s good now??? If yes then the Childhood was HEAVEN… It needn’t be described in volumes and words… it certainly is just a two word thing… SIMPLE and BEAUTIFUL…

MISSING THOSE DAYS!!!

  1. There is one simple way to re-live childhood. Have a get- together of childhood friends once a year or once in two years! I do this regularly :)

Another simple way - have LOTS of much younger friends... you know I do this too!!
    Cheers!

  9. The childhood shows the man, as morning shows the day and when you finally go back to your old hometown, you find it wasn't the old home you missed but your childhood.
